What’s In My Bag – Center For Aesthetics Edition

Dermatology Partners of the North Shore’s Center For Aesthetics skin experts share their favorite skincare products and why they love them. Read on to learn which products they use to care for their own complexions.

Shannon Marie Bell, BSN, RN, CANS, is the Center for Aesthetics Director, Registered Nurse and CANS Certified Nurse Specialist who has dedicated her career to innovation, research, and teaching in nonsurgical aesthetics for over two decades. She is a sought-after speaker at national aesthetic meetings and for local and national media, and is a Master Injector for Allergan, the makers of Botox Cosmetic.

SkinMedica TNS Advanced+ Serum

This is the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to your skin because it has growth factors, which help to repair the skin at a cellular level. It also has super antioxidants. This can help to tighten the skin, smooth wrinkles and fine lines, and have an overall rejuvenating effect. You can see visible results after just two weeks of using the product.

Neocutis Micro-Eyes Riche Rejuvenating Balm

I like the Neocutis eye creams because they have peptides in them, but no retinals, so they are completely non-irritating. This is really hydrating especially for the delicate area around the eyes.

SkinMedica Facial Cleanser

This is my every day facial cleanser. I can’t live without it. I use it daily, in the morning and nighttime. This does a great job of cleansing my skin without being over drying or irritating.

SkinMedica HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator I'm an HA5 fan. I typically don't use a lot of moisturizer on my skin because I have a lot of natural oils, so I find that this hydrator to work very well for me. It’s also great to use as a primer before applying makeup.

Lumvive Day Damage Defense Serum + Lumvive Night Revitalize Repair Complex I really like the Lumvive Day and Night System. This system is the next step in my skincare because it helps to enhance all the effects of the TNS Advanced+ Serum. Lumvive Day has super antioxidants and it protects against blue light. We are exposed to blue light throughout the day and we know that this damages our skin. It also has other environmental protections. The Lumvive Night is great because it's doing cellular repair to the tissue that has been injured or damaged by the environment. I find that these two products really make a huge difference in your skin.

Latisse

I'm a huge Latisse fan. I use my Latisse at daytime in the morning right after I get out of the shower. It’s easy to apply and a quick addition to the morning skincare routine.

Aquaphor I also keep Aquaphor in my bag just in case I need it throughout the day. It’s good for any small scratches or irritation that can come up. It’s also great on the lips in the winter.

Kathy Walsh is a Licensed Medical Esthetician at the Center for Aesthetics and an innovator as one of the first laser hair removal providers and teachers. She is also one of the first to accept and understand the vital importance of growth factors in skincare. She is recognized by Lumenis and Candella for her expertise in laser and light rejuvenation. She is certified by the American Society of Laser Medicine Surgery and has mastered the science of skincare through Skin Medica University.

SkinMedica Essential Defense Mineral Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 35

I never ever go without sunscreen. I like this one because it’s a mineral sunscreen and is made with zinc. But it absorbs very quickly and doesn’t leave a white residue like some of the zinc sunscreens of the past. It’s important to remember we need to wear sunscreen every day to protect our skin, and not just on our faces. It’s important for any part of the body that’s exposed to the sun, including your hands. I always keep sunscreen in my purse to apply to my hands when I’m driving because of the exposure to the sun through the windshield. This helps to prevent sun spots and signs of aging on the hands.

SkinMedica Replenish Hydrating Cream

This is one of the newest products at the Center For Aesthetics and also one of my new favorites. I have extremely dry skin and this works well because it hydrates without feeling too thick and heavy. I use this both in the morning and evening and I always combine it with the HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator. The HA5 goes on first, and then the replenishing hydrating cream. SkinMedica HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator

This is another one of my favorite products. This helps with retaining moisture in your skin and I use it both in the morning and evening. I also carry it in my bag because now that I’m wearing a face mask throughout the day, my skin has a tendency to dry out. Whenever I’m feeling a bit dry, I just apply a little bit to add more moisture to my skin.

SkinMedica TNS Recovery Complex I start and end my day with the TNS Recovery Complex. I have been using this since 1997 and it is a miracle worker on my skin. It has the highest concentration of growth factors and reduces fine lines and help your skin to look more refreshed. I have extremely sensitive skin and this is my go-to serum.

Latisse I also begin my day with Latisse. Previously, I used to put it on at night, but I found that it was easier and more efficient to add to my morning skincare routine.

SkinMedica Instant Bright Eye Cream This is another product that I use both in the morning and evening. I have had issues with other under-eye creams in the past, but this works so well for me. It really rejuvenates my under-eye area and helps to make my eyes look brighter.

Aveda Stress-Fix Body Lotion

I always keep in my purse because it is the most emollient hand cream I have found. I use it throughout the day because we wash our hands constantly here and my hands get so dried out. This is a lifesaver for me.

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm I also have been hooked on Burt’s Bees Lip Balm for many years. I have one in every single purse and in the pockets of all my scrubs. I can’t live without it! Stay In The Know
